Grief Camp: 3 weeks of art journaling and community
Ahoy Campers! Join me for Grief Camp 2022!
Grief camp is a 3 week art journaling experience where we will make space for our grief and make marks in response to it in community. Often, in our day to day existence, it can feel like a challenge to make room for grief in a way that we feel deeply witnessed and whole. In this space, you are invited to bring your whole self.
When
June 27 - July 15
What to expect
Over the three weeks, you will receive a prompt each week day (15 prompts) with weekends off to work on any prompts you needed more time for or just enjoy some quiet. Each daily prompt is a word or phrase, along with a short note, that will arrive in your email in the wee hours of the morning. You will respond to it in your art journal with the materials you have gathered and then share them, if you please. It's all about the process, rather than the product. We are going to engage in irreverent, reckless, unapologetic mark-making abandon. It doesn't have to be pretty, or well put together.
It is a gentle and deservedly generous 3 weeks to practice feeling your feelings, making your marks, engaging and giving space to your intuition and unique sense of knowing.
Community
We will support each other in a few ways: There will be a Slack group to share photos and thoughts about them. where I will pop in daily to share my work and encourage you on your journey. You are in charge of how much or little you share your pieces in the community, and though our process is 3 weeks, you can move at your own pace and share at your own pace as well. Together, we will honor the rhythm of the group.
There will be a welcome email delivered to you on 6/25, then a few times to gather: An opening Zoom call, Monday 6/27, a Zoom check in on Tuesday, 7/5, an open studio Zoom on Monday, 7/11, and finally a closing Zoom call on 7/15. Each of these calls is optional and will take place from 7-8:15 pm EST.
Grief camp is for anyone who has experienced grief. It doesn’t have to be a recent experience with grief. It doesn’t have to be grief over death or loss of a person. There's no judgement about what brings you to grief awareness. I do ask that you feel in a space to work with your grief and have the necessary supports in place should you need additional support including therapy or counseling.

A spiral note book/mixed media pad of paper
Words, poems, phrases you love, images from magazines
A permanent marker
Scissors
Glue
Paint + brushes
Glitter
(Anything else you'd like or less if this feels like too much.)
